Alex Yacovelli, Rock Artist
ALEX YACOVELLI is both a Solo Artist and the evolving frontman of "Nu York" Neo-Grunge / Punk band YACOVELLI. A former member of bands Rich N Pretty and Not Your Queen’s English, Yacovelli brings a raw, untamed energy to every track, blending indie rock with a DIY spirit straight from the garage.
Hailing from the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, NYC, Alex infuses his music with the grit and swagger of urban life. A fixture in the New York underground scene since the late 2000s, he’s notched incredible milestones — including sharing the stage with Weezer at their legendary Madison Square Garden debut. His songwriting skills also earned him an Honorable Mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition (Pop category), ranking alongside none other than Meghan Trainor.
While studying voice at New York University, Alex’s performance at the Ultraviolet Live talent show—ill-received by the official judges --was praised by host Perez Hilton. This was the same talent show where Lady Gaga made her barefoot mark the year before. More recently, Alex has rocked venues such as Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and 107.1 The Peak’s Pleasantville Music Festival. Alex received an exclusive invite to record a live version of his tune “Songbird” at Jacaranda Record’s 1947 Voice-O-Graph direct-to-vinyl booth in Liverpool, at the very club where The Beatles started. He’s one of the few lucky Artists to record on one of these difficult-to-maintain machines.
